One of the most idle, yet, rewarding activities when you travel is to watch sunset. Especially if you happen to be in a west coastal area such as El Nido, Palawan, it’s impossible not to witness a glorious golden hour! There are many sunset spots in El Nido, and Nacpan Beach is one of the easiest to recommend!

Quick trip to Nacpan Beach

We went straight to Nacpan Beach right after our Puerto Princesa City half-day tour. Nacpan is actually not included in the tour package but thankfully, the owner of Hadefe allowed us to slightly twitch the itinerary. Anyway, it was my birthday so I guess it’s okay to have such little requests *wink*.

We started the city tour early so we could at least catch sunset at Nacpan. Fortunately, we reached Nacpan before sunset so we still had time for an afternoon swim.

Huge waves welcomed us. We even saw few people surfing. The beach is so expansive so you could easily find your own spot. The sand is powdery fine and white, and the water is shallow. You would need to walk for about fifty meters from the shore to reach the waist deep part. And the cleanliness is extraordinary! Not even a single candy pack was spotted. Probably the cleanest beach I’ve been to!

It was also amazing that there were very few people despite the holiday. It was November 30, Andres Bonifacio Day. Let me share a little trivia about me: My grandpa initially named me Andres but I turned out to be a baby girl, hence my name.

The beach was empty of establishments, only few open cottages were present. But this was four years ago. Now there are beach resorts that offer different kinds of beachfront accommodations, even glamping! There are also cafes and restaurants by the beach that attract more and more tourists.

Our initial plan was to watch sunset at the view deck where you could see the twin beaches of Nacpan and Calitang. But it was prohibited that time because according to a local, it was already privately owned. I guess my birthday excuse won’t work this time.

We just savored the moment until the sun completely goes down. There were no available shower rooms in Nacpan by that time so we just let ourselves dry before boarding the van. We took a shower in our hotel at Hadefe Beach Cottages which is an hour’s drive from Nacpan Beach.

If I’d be given a chance to come to this side of Palawan again, I’d definitely spend longer time at Nacpan Beach. I’d love to spend a night or two, to just enjoy the ocean and chill the night away on this pristine paradise.

Although that seems impossible to happen for now, but I’m still looking forward for that chance. It might not come out exactly as I’ve imagined, but it’s fine as long as it’s in God’s timing. His plans are still the best anyway.

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
~Proverbs 19:21

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
~Jeremiah 29:11

Love,
